The first thing you should do is check and see if there isn't one in your community already. If there is, it would be better to get involved with what is available rather than creating a situation where neither organization can get funding (funding is often split amongst communities). If there isn't a program, than you can do several things to start one: 1. Do some research on funding possibilities. You can start with looking up VAWA and VOCA online. 2. Do some research on foundations similiar to what you want to do, then call them! Other organizations in the nation would be happy to help and make suggestions. 3.
